Deity Down Records
Another band on review from the
folks at Deity Down Records is Hatred from the Netherlands.
If you were to
take “Altars of Madness” era Morbid Angel and mix it with “Hatred” era Sinister
you would have Hatred (Interestingly they share the same name as the Sinister
album, ha.), except a bit more stripped down in the production. This isn’t hyper
fast Death Metal, but this is definitely too slow either. The blast beats
actually have a drum sound to them instead of the usual sped up typewriter
noise. The guitars are heavy but have sludge-covered hammers of doom riffs to
them. There are some moments that remind me of Dismember in certain spots, even
some Unleashed., with a slight hint of Hypocrisy.
Songs range from
stomp you into the ground march of death slow to fast. Vocals definitely remind
me of old Sinister a lot, but not enough to be an exact clone. So far this is my
favorite band on the Deity Down Records roster. I hope to hear more from this
band.
Favorite tracks
are: “The Atheist”, “Enslaved By A Living Deity”, and “Beholder of Hate”
